This Sync IS system uses both lens and body IS to correct pitch and yaw, just as Panasonic, Olympus and Canon systems do.įujifilm has managed to create an IS mechanism for the GFX 100S that is both smaller and more effective than the one in the original GFX 100.Īs usual, we find CIPA ratings (which only assesses pitch and yaw correction) tend to over-state the benefit somewhat, but a 6EV rating should make it much easier to obtain the full benefit of the GFX 100S's resolution. On top of this, the new system can synchronize with OIS lenses to maintain this level of correction even with longer focal lengths. This is half a stop more than the GFX 100's rating and is possible with more lenses, giving a rated 1EV improvement with most combinations. Just as Fujifilm has been able to continue to miniaturize the IS systems used in its X-H1, X-T4 and X-S10 models, it's also been able to reduce the size of the mechanism from the original GFX 100 to allow it to fit in a smaller body.ĭespite the size reduction, the new mechanism is more effective than the one that precedes it: rated to correct up to 6EV of shake. Image stabilizationĬore to the GFX 100S is the inclusion of in-body image stabilization. A conventional mode dial and movie/stills switch replace the GFX 100's button-within-a-dial arrangement on the camera's left shoulder. The GFX 100S has a control layout very similar to that of the original, dual-grip GFX 100, with a large LCD top plate display and a comparable number of custom buttons. However, the company says that in contrast to the 50R, a DSLR-style body, with the viewfinder assembly on the top of the camera, was required in order to make the inclusion of an image stabilization system practical. The use of a smaller battery and fixed viewfinder have helped significantly slim-down the GFX100S (left), relative to the original 50MP GFX 50S (right).įujifilm has applied a lot of the downsizing efforts that went into its more rangefinder-like 50R camera here in the GFX 100S, resulting in a camera that’s appreciably smaller than the original GFX 50S and the dual-grip GFX 100. Inside its comparatively compact body, the GFX 100S carries the 102MP BSI CMOS sensor from the original GFX 100 mounted within a smaller, more powerful image stabilization mechanism. But don't mistake predictability for complacency: the GFX 100S is an awful lot of camera. The Fujifilm GFX 100S is the logical next step in the development of the company's medium format lineup: a 100MP sensor in a single-grip DSLR styled body. It's all about the empty columns! Empty columns allow you to restack more cards together, hopefully freeing up a card or column in the process.Right, so now you've got your head around the rules, let's help you win! The round bonus equals Round Number × 1,000 points. Bronze (more than 10 minutes): 5,000 points.Silver (between 5 minutes and 10 minutes): 10,000 points.Gold (5 minutes or less): 20,000 points.During a round the current time is indicated at the right top of the game, together with the current bonus (gold / silver / bronze). The time bonus depends on how quickly the round is completed. Moving a card back from the foundations to the tableau will deduct 500 points.Īfter completing a round, there are two bonuses: time bonus and round bonus. ScoringĮach card moved to one of the foundations scores 500 points. You will have to restart if you have used all the stock cards and cannot put all the cards on the foundation. This makes Forty Thieves Solitaire quite difficult.ĭon't forget to ask for a hint during the game, it can help to spot possible moves you might have missed. You are only allowed to pass through the waste pile once, so resetting the deck is not allowed. Of course you can only use the top card of the waste pile. You can turn over a single card at a time and put them whenever you decide you want to or of course if there are no possible moves for you. If you cannot make a move you can turn over a new card by clicking on the facedown deck in the top left of the game screen. When a column is empty you can move any single card onto it to start it off. For example you can move a 10 of clubs only onto a Jack of clubs. You may only move one card at a time, and you can only move a card to another pile if it is one lower and in the same suit. You can use the middle 10 piles to hold the cards temporarily while you build up the cards in the foundation piles. So after an Ace of hearts is put into a foundation pile, it would have to be followed by the two of hearts and so. Each foundation starts with an Ace of a particular suit and rises up to the King of that suit. The foundation piles are built in suit in an ascending order from Ace to King. As two decks are used you will often notice duplicate cards after setting-up. All the remaining cards are left in a waste pile that can be used later. 40 cards are dealt face-up in columns that consist of four cards. The first "season" was on Machinima's account, but now the second has started on the Nerdist channel. Starting in September 2012, the show has been revived as a "review" show on YouTube. Regular segments included "Precious Roy's Home Shopping Network," where Olly would briefly lose what sanity he had left to sell very dangerous or impossible products to people "Calls From the Public," which is exactly what it sounds like (and always includes a call from their landlord who threatens to evict them for some very weird reasons, like collecting monkeys and building a waterpark) "A Word with Chester" (later "Letters to Chester") where Olly would spend a little time talking to Chester, since he wanted to give him a spot on the show and finally "It's Almost the End of the Show!" where the duo would sing a song, many of which were recycled into the "Kickin' It Old School" segments of Season 2. The humor often featured profanity, surrealism, sexual references, drug innuendo, crude humor, bodily functions, and violence. Though it featured sock puppets, the series was not intended for children. Sifl and Olly sing both original and classic songs throughout the show, with an original song at the end. The show has an extemporaneous unscripted feel, with the characters talking to each other in a realistic, conversational style. The two co-hosts often have a microphone in front of them. The show is always very simple and low-budget, showing only the characters and background images or animation. Only puppets appear on the show, except during Precious Roy's hamster sale. The increase in prosperity, for those who survived, was much less affected by the Black Death. To these figures, Northern Europe, especially Britain, contributed a lower proportion than today, and Southern Europe, including France, a higher one. ![]() The population of Europe is estimated to have reached a low point of about 18 million in 650, to have doubled around the year 1000, and to have reached over 70 million by 1340, just before the Black Death. Many regions did not regain their former population levels until the 17th century. The first several centuries of the Middle Ages in Europe - up to about 800 AD - saw a decrease in prosperity, stability, and population, followed by a fairly steady and general increase until the massive setback of the Black Death around 1350, which is estimated to have killed at least a third of the overall population in Europe, with generally higher rates in the south and lower in the north. Since a revival of interest and understanding in the 19th century it has been seen as a period of enormous achievement that underlies the development of later Western art.ĭetail of The Effects of Good Government, a fresco in the City Hall of Siena by Ambrogio Lorenzetti, 1338. The period ended with the self-perceived Renaissance recovery of the skills and values of classical art, and the artistic legacy of the Middle Ages was then disparaged for some centuries. Apart from the formal aspects of classicism, there was a continuous tradition of realistic depiction of objects that survived in Byzantine art throughout the period, while in the West it appears intermittently, combining and sometimes competing with new expressionist possibilities developed in Western Europe and the Northern legacy of energetic decorative elements. Indeed, the history of medieval art can be seen as the history of the interplay between the elements of classical, early Christian and "barbarian" art. These sources were mixed with the vigorous "barbarian" artistic culture of Northern Europe to produce a remarkable artistic legacy. Medieval art in Europe grew out of the artistic heritage of the Roman Empire and the iconographic traditions of the early Christian church. Especially in the early part of the period, works in the so-called "minor arts" or decorative arts, such as metalwork, ivory carving, vitreous enamel and embroidery using precious metals, were probably more highly valued than paintings or monumental sculpture. Medieval art was produced in many media, and works survive in large numbers in sculpture, illuminated manuscripts, stained glass, metalwork and mosaics, all of which have had a higher survival rate than other media such as fresco wall-paintings, work in precious metals or textiles, including tapestry. In addition, each region, mostly during the period in the process of becoming nations or cultures, had its own distinct artistic style, such as Anglo-Saxon art or Viking art. A generally accepted scheme includes the later phases of Early Christian art, Migration Period art, Byzantine art, Insular art, Pre-Romanesque, Romanesque art, and Gothic art, as well as many other periods within these central styles. It includes major art movements and periods, national and regional art, genres, revivals, the artists' crafts, and the artists themselves.Īrt historians attempt to classify medieval art into major periods and styles, often with some difficulty. Both men and women were scribes and illuminators. The medieval art of the Western world covers a vast scope of time and place, over 1000 years of art in Europe, and at certain periods in Western Asia and Northern Africa. The continued emphasis on traditional religious imagery was very strong, but did not preclude new interpretations. There, scribes copied texts from other books to make new ones, and artists copied or modified existing prototype images, sometimes inventing new designs. Religious illuminated manuscripts were originally produced in a scriptorium within a church complex, monastery or convent. Each page featured a painted scene, and many had additional decorations, including illuminated initials, and flora and fauna in the margins. Throughout the European Middle Ages and Renaissance, sacred texts were often decorated to instruct the viewer in spiritual ideas, but also to display the importance of religious texts themselves by giving them a visually stunning presentation.
